I'm Peter Knaus, the founder of KnausDev. I build backend systems, AI pipelines, and enterprise platforms for B2B companies. The kind that handle real load, serve complex business logic, and need to stay up.
With 8+ years of experience shipping PHP and Laravel at scale, I've built platforms for clients like E-wire, Exlink, and Dadooo.ai, ranging from white-labeled B2E platforms to AI-powered data extraction systems. At Exlink, I grew from one of two developers into a team lead, managing distributed engineering teams, making hiring decisions, and onboarding new developers while maintaining technical ownership of the platform.
I'm someone who genuinely cares about the craft. I run my own homelab, host my own email, manage my own Git server, and use NixOS as my daily driver. Not because I have to, but because understanding systems at every layer makes me a better engineer. That same curiosity is what I bring to every client project.
I work in Neovim, think in PostgreSQL schemas, and architect with Domain-Driven Design. My approach: understand the problem deeply, architect the solution before writing code, and stay in a constant feedback loop throughout development. You talk directly to the engineer doing the work. No layers, no handoffs.

How I Work
I believe in writing clean, maintainable code. Every project gets the same level of care, whether it's a data pipeline or a complex B2B platform. I stay in a tight feedback loop with clients before, during, and after development.
I own my infrastructure end-to-end. I deploy to Hetzner dedicated machines, containerize with Docker, route through Cloudflare, and manage networking with Tailscale and OPNsense. When something breaks at 2 AM, I'm the one who knows every layer of the stack because I built it.
